The Carers Strategies (Wales) Measure 2010 puts responsiblity on Local Health Boards to work with their partner local authorities to produce Information and Consultation Strategies for Carers. These Strategies set out how they will provide information for carers and involve them in the decisions that affect their lives. Each Strategy has a young carers chapter.
‘Together for Mental Health’ is the Welsh Government's new 10 year mental health strategy for Wales, covering people of all ages.
The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 comes into force in 2016. All carers are entitled to an assessment of their caring situation, as well as current and future needs. This will mean young carers have a right to know what services they can have and that all information is up-to-date and easy to find.
